& Context

What it is

An integrated interpretation of the athlete — not an isolated score.

The analysis connects what you report, what appears in the performance instruments, and the context in which patterns occur. The goal is to understand how you tend to respond, what supports or interrupts execution, and which priorities make sense now.

The analysis seeks to understand:

  • how you tend to function in sport;
  • how you respond as pressure, mistakes, or uncertainty increase;
  • which conditions support or interrupt your Flow;
  • how routine, environment, and experiences influence your performance;
  • which patterns should be preserved, adjusted, or developed.
The final product is not the score. It is clarity applied to performance.

Areas of analysis

Four perspectives. One individualized analysis.

Each perspective is examined separately and then integrated. No conclusion is built from a single result.

01

Behavior

How you tend to think, act, organize yourself, relate to others, make decisions, and respond to your own demands.

02

Emotion

How you perceive, understand, and regulate emotions when facing pressure, expectations, mistakes, uncertainty, and events outside the plan.

03

Flow

Which conditions support concentration, clarity, control, engagement, and execution — and which tend to interrupt them.

04

Identity & Context

How your sport, routine, coach, team, family, schedule, goals, and previous experiences influence the way you perform.

Together, identity and context provide an integrating dimension for the interpretation.

How it works

A structured process from first contact to next steps.

Materials used at the beginning of the Performance Analysis process

#01 Initial conversation

A conversation to understand your current moment, goals, and needs, and to determine whether Performance Analysis is the right process for you.

Individual online Athlete Analyst session

#02 Individual interview

An in-depth exploration of your sport history, routine, training, competition, pressure, mistakes, losses, environment, and goals.

Structured analysis of an athlete's sport context

#03 Structured performance instruments

You complete performance instruments related to behavior, emotional functioning, and Flow conditions, selected according to sport and language.

Professional interpretation during an individual session

#04 Integrated analysis

The interview, results, qualitative responses, and sport context are connected to identify patterns, convergences, interference points, and hypotheses.

#05

Report and live feedback

You receive a personalized report and join a live session to understand the findings, ask questions, and connect them to your reality in sport.

#06

Development priorities and next steps

Findings are translated into development focus areas, initial strategies, and recommendations for the next cycle. Performance Development may be a next step, but it is not required.

What the athlete receives

An analysis that leads to practical direction.

You do not receive results alone. You receive an individualized interpretation of what they may mean, how the patterns appear in sport, and what can be developed from them.

Performance functioning profile

An understanding of personal and behavioral patterns related to training, competition, decisions, relationships, discipline, adaptation, and self-demand.

Emotional functioning

An analysis of how emotions are perceived, understood, and regulated, especially when pressure rises or events deviate from the plan.

Flow conditions

Identification of the conditions that support or hinder focus, control, clarity, engagement, and continuity of execution.

Integrated profile and context

A connection between the interview, individual functioning, emotional functioning, Flow, and sport context, without reducing the athlete to a single score.

Development priorities

Definition of practical focus areas, initial strategies, and next steps connected to the athlete's current moment and goals.

Report and feedback session

Written clarity. Live interpretation.

The report organizes the primary findings in a visual, clear, and contextualized format. Each interpretation explains what the pattern may mean, how it may appear in performance, and which development focus deserves attention.

During the individual feedback session, the results are presented and discussed live. This moment allows you to:

  • explore the findings in greater depth;
  • connect them to real situations;
  • clarify questions;
  • distinguish facts, results, and hypotheses;
  • establish practical priorities.

How the interpretation is built

Results show what emerged. The analysis investigates what it may mean.

The interpretation distinguishes different types of information to avoid premature conclusions and transform the findings into responsible recommendations.

01

Reported fact

Information shared by the athlete about their history, routine, or experiences.

02

Measured result

Data obtained through the structured performance instruments used in the process.

03

Observed pattern

Recurring themes identified by connecting different sources of information.

04

Hypothesis

An interpretive possibility that needs to be contextualized, discussed, or monitored.

05

Recommendation

A focus area or strategy proposed from the integrated findings.

The analysis does not invent causality, turn scores into labels, or compare one athlete with another.

Who it is for

For athletes who want to understand before simply demanding more from themselves.

01

Competitive athletes

For athletes who notice differences between training and competition or want to better understand how they function under pressure.

02

Developing athletes

For professional, amateur, and young athletes who want performance priorities to be as clear as their physical and technical priorities.

03

Parents and guardians

For families seeking an individualized understanding of a young athlete’s performance patterns within the appropriate age and contracting workflow.

Athlete Analyst works across sports, with deeper experience in combat sports, especially jiu-jitsu.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

01What happens in Performance Analysis?

You complete an initial conversation, an individual interview, and structured performance instruments selected for your sport and language. Nicoly integrates that information with your sport context, prepares a personalized report, and leads a live feedback session to turn the findings into priorities and next steps.

02What do I receive at the end of Performance Analysis?

You receive a personalized report, a live feedback session to understand the findings, and clear priorities for your next cycle. Performance Analysis is a complete, independent service; Performance Development is a separate option.

03Is Performance Analysis completed online?

Yes. The process is completed online in Portuguese or English, subject to service eligibility and the applicable jurisdiction.

04What information goes into the analysis?

The analysis can integrate the individual interview, structured performance instruments, qualitative responses, and sport context. The instrument set is selected according to sport and language, and no result is interpreted in isolation.

05Will I only receive numbers and graphs?

No. The report distinguishes measured results, information reported by the athlete, identified patterns, hypotheses, and recommendations. The goal is to turn information into understanding and practical direction.

06What type of service is Performance Analysis?

It is a performance service designed to understand patterns that matter in training and competition and translate them into practical priorities. The analysis may address behavior, emotion, attention, self-regulation, Flow, and sport context when those areas are relevant to performance. It is not psychotherapy, diagnosis, psychological or medical treatment, formal psychological assessment, or crisis care.

07Can a club, team, or organization use the report for selection, cuts, scholarships, or other decisions about an athlete?

The report is designed for the athlete’s individual development: applied self-understanding, pattern recognition, priorities, and next steps. The athlete may choose to share the report with trusted people. It is not produced as an instrument for hiring, cuts, team selection, scholarships, eligibility, discipline, fitness-for-duty, forensic use, or similar institutional decisions and should not be converted into a criterion for those purposes.

08Do I need to continue with Performance Development afterward?

No. Performance Analysis is a complete, independent service. Performance Development is a separate option for athletes who want to work on priorities over time.

09Do you offer Performance Analysis for young athletes?

Yes. The current online workflow serves athletes ages 13–17 through the appropriate guardian and athlete-participation process. Athlete Analyst does not currently begin new online service engagements for athletes under 13.

10Can I share my report with my coach or another support professional?

Yes. The report is prepared for your individual development, and you may voluntarily share it with people you trust. If Athlete Analyst is asked to collaborate directly with a coach, guardian, or another professional, information sharing follows the applicable authorization.

11How does confidentiality work?

Interviews, responses, reports, and other personal and performance information are handled confidentially within the applicable authorizations, service documents, and law. Information is not automatically shared with third parties.
